NSF ExLENT

Beginnings: Preparing and Advancing College Engineering Students for the Aerospace Workforce with Experiential Learning and Research

Opportunities

Who we are:

We are funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to build an aerospace workforce pipeline for the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area. The pipeline connects Tarrant County College (TCC), the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), UTA Research Institute (UTARI), and local aerospace companies.

Our Goal

We train cohorts of UTA and TCC students with industry-demanded hands-on skills for fabricating, testing, and analyzing aerospace materials. We prepare for the aerospace industry.

What we offer:

  • We are recruiting 20 trainees for a 10-day training in March 2026 (March 6-9, 13-16, 20, and 27).
  • Our curriculum are collaboratively made by UTA, TCC, and advisors from Lockheed Martin, RECARO, ANSYS, and Aeroblaze.
  • We offer one-on-one career advising opportunities with industry advisors.
  • We offer $1,000 stipend/person (10 days) to the trainees.
  • We guarantees summer industry or research internships for 25% of the trainees. $3,360/person/month (2.5 months).
